Amazon tariff plan called ‘hostile’ by White House; what is it and why is Amazon doing it?

The White House slammed Amazon Tuesday over their plan to display the cost of President  Donald Trump's  tariffs next to the total prices of products for sale online. "I just got off the phone with the president about the Amazon announcement. This is a hostile and political act by Amazon," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at an April 29 briefing with reporters. “Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked. Adding, that "it's not really a surprise" because "Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm ." George Kittle becomes NFL's highest-paid TE with new $76M contract extension

All-Pro tight end George Kittle has signed a major contract extension with the  San Francisco 49ers  that will net him $76.4 million over four years. The deal, first reported by FanDuel's "Bussin' With The Boys," comes with $40 million guaranteed, including a $35 million signing bonus, and will make him the NFL's highest-paid tight end. Kittle did not report for the start of the team's voluntary workouts last week, fueling speculation that he was holding out for a new contract. However, he was in attendance with his teammates on Friday, an indication that talks had potentially taken a positive turn. The eight-year veteran will have the four additional years tacked onto his existing contract, potentially keeping him in San Francisco through the 2029 season. With the Kittle extension complete, the Niners will now turn their attention to completing a new deal with quarterback Brock Purdy.

Jamie Vardy to leave Leicester City after 13 years at the club

The 38-year-old England striker , a key member of the team which lifted the title against the odds in 2016, will depart with almost 500 appearances for the club to his name in the wake of a relegation he has described as “such a s*** show”. Vardy joined in 2012 from non-league side Fleetwood Town. A statement on City’s official website said: "We can confirm legendary striker Jamie Vardy will leave Leicester City this summer after 13 seasons that have seen him become our greatest-ever player."   WASHINGTON — Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) announced Wednesday that he will not seek re-election in 2026, saying he would “ pass the torch ” to up-and-coming leaders in his party. The no. 2 Democrat in the Senate posted a video message on X explaining his decision to step down after having served five terms — “longer than anyone elected to the Senate” in Illinois ’ history. “The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy. I truly love the job of being a United States senator,” Durbin said. “But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch.” The 80-year-old added that “ a strong Democratic bench ” would be “ready to serve” in his place — without naming any immediate successors — and touted his support for fellow Illinois Democratic Sen.   Third time might be the charm for the big cat charmer — Joe Exotic announced Tuesday that he’s   married again , this time to a fellow inmate. The 62-year-old “Tiger King” star, real name Joseph Allen Maldonado, announced Tuesday on social media that he and his fiancé had tied the knot. “Never been prouder of someone. Meet my husband Jorge Flores Maldonado,” Exotic captioned a photo of the jailbirds-turned-lovebirds. The apparently   Photoshopped  image shows the newlyweds in black tuxedos and white baseball caps, standing beneath a floral archway. Exotic is serving a 21-year sentence at FMC Fort Worth for multiple charges.
