Amazon tariff plan called ‘hostile’ by White House; what is it and why is Amazon doing it?
The White House slammed Amazon Tuesday over their plan to display the cost of President Donald Trump's tariffs next to the total prices of products for sale online. "I just got off the phone with the president about the Amazon announcement. This is a hostile and political act by Amazon," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at an April 29 briefing with reporters. “Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years?” Leavitt asked. Adding, that "it's not really a surprise" because "Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm ."
