Trump calls Harvard University a 'joke', refuses to include it in list of best universities

Trump wrote on his social media account Truth Socia "Harvard can no longer be considered a reputable educational institution. It should not be on any list of the best universities or colleges in the world." The historic Harvard University, which has produced 162 Nobel Prize winners, is deeply angry with Trump for refusing to accept government oversight of admissions, hiring, and political views. Columbia University and other institutions have caved in to the Trump administration's less sweeping demands, which it has accused of "far-left" views of America's most prestigious universities.

Harvard University has flatly rejected such pressure from the Trump administration, with university president Alan Gerber saying this week that Harvard is not willing to "negotiate" its freedoms or constitutional rights. Trump this week ordered a freeze on $2.2 billion in federal funding for Harvard. He said on Tuesday that if Harvard did not back down, it would “lose its tax-exempt status as a nonprofit educational institution.”

CNN and the Washington Post reported on Tuesday that the IRS is now planning to take necessary action following Trump's request.US media reported that the Trump administration has formally requested the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to revoke the prestigious educational institution's tax exemption, just a day after President Trump threatened to revoke the exemption.
